Quotes of the Day

Here are some good quotes from my current read, The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini.

"Children aren't coloring books. You don't get to fill them with your favorite colors."- Rahim Khan

"A person who waste his God-given talents is a donkey."-Rahim Khan

"There is only one sin, only one. And that is theft. Every other sin is a variation of theft....When you kill a man, you steal a life. You steal his wife's right to a husband, rob his children of a father. When you tell a lie, you steal someone's right to the truth. When you cheat, you steal the right to fairness."- Baba

"There are bad people in this world, and sometimes bad people stay bad. Sometimes you have to stand up to them." Amir

*Rahim called Amir in SF: "Now there is a way to be good again..." (Rahim knew what happened to Hassan in the alley, and how Amir framed Hassan for stealing his watch. Hassan and his father left Amir's family as a result, or so as Ali put it: "....we must leave, life is impossible for us here."

*Amir and Hassan cut the last kite, and Amir made Baba proud by winning the champion. Hassan ran the kite (hence "The Kite Runner") for
Amir..."For you, a thousand times over..."

Down with the flu. This is the season to be sick again. But all and all,I'm still alive but not so much kickin' hehehe.Happy Tuesday all.Salam=)

The Magic Was Lacking...I Mean Leaking

After 2 years of anticipating for Justin Timberlake's new single,a demo like this can't be prescribed as a new single.I'm not an official music source for you readers (So don't sue me imeem or JT).But I just have to make you JT fans listen to this. It's exciting at first just by looking at his name and a new song title. As I listen to this talented superstar hoping to surprise me,this song clearly lacks the edge on making it a hit (if this ever so happens to be his new single).Let's just hope this is just some 'i'm-bored-and-uninspired-yet-I-just-want-to-keep-the-fans-entertained' leaked out demo or a tune to fill in the gaps of his in-works future albums. Common JT, i'm sure you've got better magic tricks up your sleeve =p
Magic [Mr. Timberlake New Album] - Justin Timberlake

Soy Niña Lola

This is just breathtakingly beautiful.I haven't heard jazz music this good in a very long time. With only some basic Spanish understood, I could still feel every emotion set in her voice. As how my uncle would describe jazz music 'kejiwa'.Concha Buika is a versatile artist who mix her music with flamenco, soul, jazz and funk. Now she is one of kind for someone who can handle many unique music styles.

If I Were A Boy-Beyonce

For some personal reasons, this song can get some women all teary.
Beyonce’s honey toned voice hitting the right notes with the suitable emotion-A broken hearts’ feelings depicts the meaning of the chorus. Like a gentle cry in pain with many ‘’i love you’s but...’’ behind. Exposing women’s so obvious secret, the vulnerability expose as much either sex tries to stay strong , lying ‘im ok (when im actually not)’ excuses. See it this way “If i were a boy i’d be treating you this way. “ We just want to be loved, faithfully in the 2 way street of love.
Good song-catchy lyrics, nicely easy assembled tunes. Will get overplayed though. And don’t get me started with mobile phone ringtones. This is a good song ladies, cherish it. Don’t over expose it *jokes*.I’m sure it’ll reach number 1 in the music charts.

Ray Lamontagne

Finally!!! For months i've been waiting for Ray's music to get some more exposure.Only until yesterday,I read JOHN MAYER'S BLOG and the man was hailing his own kind.
"I can't get over how powerful he is. He's so pure, it's arresting. If you want to know a songwriter's songwriter, and a singer's singer, it's Ray.
I should be writing songs when his CDs are playing."

It was sometime in spring, one artist led to another in the time of doing some musical research since I was hungry for something fresh, musically. That's when I came across this beardy fellow crooning in a husky tone over this ravishing ballad.
Hold You In My Arms

Cupid shot me instantly.Hold me in your arms Rayy...

Ray has a new album out 'Gossip in the Grain'.But before getting into that, here are some recommended tunes from his previous albums.

John makes the right music judgements.I think we both do LOL (perasan =P)

Belated Greeting

A Slight 'Bond' Fever

How intriguing is this? A blend of two artists from dissimilar genres producing a unique sound for the latest James Bond ‘Quantum of Solace’ movie soundtrack. As hyped up about it as I was in when I first read about this unique collaboration months ago, I got the opposite reaction when I told a few people. But I hope this would convince them once again. Both artists keep it real, blending blues and rock together, appending nervy dramatic tones. Jack’s trademark guitar riffs (i like how he struts his edgy guitar skills) fusing together with Alicia’s piano playing and silky vocals; looks like we’ve got another masterpiece here people. For some, experimental music can result in a ghastly outcome, but this one was well depicted. Setting the right mood for the movie, the theme is so Bond.Mysteriously dark, deep and rawwww!!!

Another Way To Die- Alicia Keys & Jack White

Quotes of the Day

While the fates permit, live happily; life speeds on with hurried step, and with winged days the wheel of the headlong year is turned.
-Seneca (5 BC - 65 AD)

We don't see things as they are, we see things as we are.
-Anais Nin (1903 - 1977)

Be civil to all; sociable to many; familiar with few; friend to one; enemy to none.
-Benjamin Franklin (1706 - 1790)

A week left to raya.Looks like some of us will be laying low this time. Why should I be complaing when most people won't be celebrating with their loved ones right?
For now I hope everyone's puasa is still going smooth.Fast well while it last.Salam=)

Uncertainty

The beauty of uncertainty is that it motivates us to seek certainty. We are compelled to replace doubt with conviction, to replace confusion with clarity, to be more fearful of old ideas instead of new ones. Nothing is more disparaged than the person who is lost, hesitant, and anxious. Yet the true path to fulfillment comes from these conditions. Uncertainty becomes truly beautiful when connected with the certainty that there is a better life beyond the life that is known. The artist, scientist, entrepreneur, athlete, and traveller: all embrace uncertainty as their muse. What is going to happen next is more enticing than what is happening now. The thrill of anticipation, the mystery of the unknown, the open road, mistakes as portals of discovery, the inevitability of change, purpose from chaos, questions leading to answers, failure as the threshold of knowledge. All of these conditions inform the life of the adventurer, the human being who is engaged in becoming. The beauty of uncertainty is that it prepares us to embrace life in the face of death. Allows us the strength to deal with the freedom to choose. To willingly exchange the fear of uncertainty for the security of certainty is to admit defeat. To surrender to the fear of actually living your life. Nothing moves forward except by the craving to seek certainty from uncertainty.

The Distance In Love Is A Difficult Thing

Caught up with an old friend recently, and she introduced this song to me.Coincidentally this song expresses how I've been feeling lately (as some of you may notice from my previous post). The people I love won't be here for a while.I feel as if i'm experiencing one of those moments where "my friends left me here to rot for the summer",only its going to be a loooong one even though it has ended. It seems like mine has just begun!*long sigh*
Someday Someday by Thirsty Merc

I know you gotta go to university and I'm just trying to make some cash to follow my dreams.
But please don't say we're too busy to give each other the time and support we need
I know we gotta work our jobs and make some money to get by in this expensive world.
Don't let that overtake the fact that before all that....

The Day That 'I Wish' Never Came

The Day That Never Comes - Metallica

To my dearest brother.Im reminded of A whenever this song plays.
Just keep them closed,
Keep praying just keep waiting,

God I'll make them pay,
Take you back one day,
I'll end this day,
I'll splatter color on this gray,

Love is a fallen word,
And never spoken here,
Love is a fallen word,
Here in this prison,

I suffer this no longer,
I'll put an end to,
This i swear, This i swear,

The sun will shine,
This i swear, This i swear,
This i swear

Forgetful Much

*Small sibling gathering last week. It took me a while to realise I was wearing 2 different pairs of Crocs towards the end of the gathering. They felt so alike that I hardly notice the difference hehehe.

*Played futsal the night after that. Room key in my pocket. I didn’t realise i dropped it on my way to the tennis court. As I head back home, my bro found it in a flower pot. How weird is that? Especially when i didn’t walk pass any flower pots before futsal.

*Monday is laundry day for me usually. All this while whilst all my clothes were in the washing machine, apparently my earphones was in it too!

Theres one incident in Singapore last year where I packed all my foot wear and left none to put on to fly back home. Our lugagges had to be sent to the airport a few hours before we arrive in the airport. After packing everything in the wee hours of morning,I slept for a bit whitout any worries.Only when i woke up,it just hit me what i was suppose to leave behind. The luggages gone already. So i thought its either hotel slippers or barefoot. But oddly enough ,yet lucky for me,my sister left 2 footwears behind. I was serious about the hotel slippers though lol.

Could I Be Anymore Stubborn?

When you're down with a cold and a soar throat its best to lay off the chocs and dairy for a while.Only to make matters worse,I indulge in it whitout any regret. So of course the consequences is the uncomfortableness in my throat which kept me waking up almost every hour last night =s Right now I'm trying to discipline myself by drinking enough warm water throughout the day.But I was thinking of playing tennis, swim or run today. Not so smart yea?hehehe.....

Unexpected Cravings

Food that I use to depise but have now grown to love.Weird transition in a good way.Is this how being 20 is like???
*Peanut Butter.Hated this berabis!I like it now especially with waffles.I use to hate anything nutty in general. Not anymore!
*Tempeh.I've always liked tofu more and tempeh less. It's the other way round now.
*Corn Pops cereals.I use to give the whole box to best friend whenever my mum distributes it everyone at home.Only this time,I finished the whole box in a week!or less I think...

Those who knows me well might reckon that I might indulge in some local fruits someday.Save that thought.Forcing me to consume it will just make me resent it even more.Durian,ciku,cempedak,tarap.......well you get the picture, ain't gonna happen!=P

Breaking the Stereotypes with Queen Rania Through Youtube

I've always admire Queen Rania. Not just her beauty but mainly the things she does to help make the world a better place and create a better understanding from different cultures to another.
I was stereotyped in my younger days.Mainly I was labelled as a Bosnian kid.WTF?
Kids in ugama school, guys mainly, would verbally abuse us for being different.Different you ask?By means of how my siblings and I communicate to each other and how different some of us look and where we live.Given that most people in our school looked mainly Malay, what do you expect? So it's these kind of cause that I strongly support.

Click here to check out more.

And since this is a part John Mayer blog,i cannot miss out posting the video below also taken from Queen Rania's channel.See John Mayer never fails to make such an impact with his music=)

You can also check out more of Mia Rose. She's quiet the musician and looks like a John Mayer fan too;)
And on a lighter note to end my ordinary Monday(this could make up for missing out blogging for a week if i were to miss out huh?hehe)

Super Queen,you rock!=)

A Different Tagged

I've been tagged, again. But this time by the cookie jar .Clearly i have nothing to do right now so i might as well waste my time on typing down some random facts about me.Thanks for making me kill time with this ka haha.

1.I always find the need to at least hold a guitar like a kid holding on to their teddy bear constantly even if i cant play the guitar really well.
2.My favourite thing to draw in my childhood days are Prince Eric and Prince Charming LOL .As much men draws women often,me opposite lah.
3.Allergic to pennicillin
4.Chocolate mints doesnt appeal to me.Preferrebly seperated.
5.I love spicy food
6.A real animal lover
7.A swimmer & a runner

A Great Learning Experience

So that went well.A few misses here and there, but all and all, alhamdulillah! But who would've thought it would turn to be such a big event? The media was there to cover the event.Click here and here to read more.
I'm going to miss my qur'an teacher. If it wasn't for her, reading the Qur'an would still leave me astray whitout her guidance.Writing and reading jawi was never easy for me as I use to fail terribly in ugama studies/ejaan or tulisan jawi (I sucked in malay as well, big time!).Only because I kept on reading till I khatam, that to my surprise,I was amazed when I thought my younger brother jawi a couple of years back thatI was able to read any (malay) jawi easily.I came up with my own technique to make the rest understand how to spell it.Did it work?Only Allah knows. But im positive it did hehe.Being the not so pious person I am,reading the Qur'an is rather joyful,a pure one indeed.

I'll always remember the wisdom and advice you fall upon me.And value what you have thought me.You have humbled me in a way that even on most days ill admit to have desserted the holy book. But in times of be it sorrow or happinness i will always resort to what makes me chant with true meaning.More than 20 years of having you around my family has been a blessing.Thank you from the bottom of my heart Cikgu.
Salam!

Music Albums I Like

Heres a starting point. The female songbirds. Singing has always been the first thing that caught my attention, as it is my first love in music.I lose myself easily in the realm of their voices. It was mainstream female RnB,Soul,Pop music that my caretaker and my siblings surrounded me with (other than oldies, love songs, ballads...ill be sure to blog about this one day)and of course MTV,my main source back then. But nonetheless, its not just them chanting that i pay attention to, but also their talents in playing instruments but most importantly its also their songwriting that defines themselves as true female artist.

Care to rant, recommend or suggest people? Are my choices good enough for you?hmm ;)More fav albums to come.Lets share people, reminisce the past and today in the music world.Shall we...ive got the cbox huhuhu.TTFN!
